Profound Emptiness
Profound Emptiness
By Marco Oggian
Description
For several decades, the art world and gallery scene have shown a persistent trend towards large-scale works. This reflection struck me during a visit to The Broad in Los Angeles, where the sheer scale of the pieces was overwhelming. Standing before a massive painting offers a unique experience, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the artist's vision, the colors, and the forms. But does size always enhance art? Often, I encounter large paintings that, if scaled down, might not hold the same impact.
This 91x130cm piece, titled 'Enormous Canvas, Profound Emptiness,' humorously depicts a dog defecating. It’s perfect for sparking reflection and conversation around the dinner table with family and friends.
